Dynamic skin deformation based on biomechanical modeling

Animating the human body with realistic skin deformation is a big challenge. Current approaches rely on approximations by using simple techniques such as skinning. We propose an approach based on the simulation of the deformation of the underlying musculoskeletal model. Our approach is based on subject-specific models that are constructed from medical images, 3D body scanner data and motion capture data. We explain the combination of these models to achieve physics-based simulation and show results of realistic skin deformation.
